A pale person’s guide to surviving in Africa

If you’re planning on visiting Africa this winter, which is their summer, you could experience some of the hottest and most humid days imaginable. Whether you’re watching zebra in Botswana or following a herd of buffalo in Tanzania, you’re going to have to stay covered up. We don’t just mean sun cream, the UV rays are so strong it’s recommended you wear lightweight long sleeve shirts trousers and plenty of bug repellent. As the evening starts to cool you can wear your shorts and t-shirt but just make sure you’ve always got a good layer of suncream, even as the sun starts to drop. Pale skin just isn’t made for these temperatures, just ask Australians who face a similar problem in their neck of the woods!
